Welcome to the Creative Calligraphy Course Students Crew! So excited to be starting this journey with you. There's important information in this page, so make sure you read through it!
First things first, join our private Facebook Group! You'll need your email that you used to register into the course, to get in. Note that it may take a few days to get approved for entry. If you haven't gotten approved within a week's time, please email us at [email protected]
First things first - do you have your supplies ready?
In the meantime, make sure that you have the following materials to get started in the course.
You'll be needing:
- A printer - laser would make it cheaper!
- HP 32lb Paper at least 100-250 pages
- A Calligraphy Pen like this or this
- Nikko G and Brause Steno Nib
- Moon Palace Ink or Best Bottle Sumi Ink
Or, you can purchase our Calligraphy Starter Kit to make your life easy, everything is going to be in one box, including worksheets in a spiral-bound pad, plus a number of my favorite tools like a medicine dropper ink bottle, silicon mat for the writing surface, and the sand+rubber eraser.

I've always loved calligraphy, ever since I was a little girl, but I never really learned how to do it properly mostly because I didn't know where to start. My friend suggested we take the Creative Calligraphy Course together since we were both in lockdown due to the pandemic in our respective parts of the country. It was the perfect way for us to reconnect, and to learn a new skill at the same time. What I really loved about this course is how Karla explains the basics very thoroughly via the videos and worksheets in order to establish a good foundation. Having feedback on our 'homework' and being able to get support through IG, FB and email were so key in helping me with my specific questions and challenges. The live sessions were especially helpful and really set this course apart from other online classes. Thank you Karla and Written Word Academy for a fabulous course and I hope to take more soon!
